Chelmsford is a suburban community of approximately 36,000 residents as of the 2020 census. It borders Westford, Tyngsboro, Billerica, Carlisle, and the City of Lowell and is in Middlesex County. Chelmsford is bordered by the Merrimack River to the north and the Concord River to the east. Home buyers tend to gravitate to Chelmsford largely due to its convenient location for commuters (with easy access to both Route 3 and Route 495 highways) and strong school system.
